Here are a few pics of Tommy that Kari sent me a couple weeks ago. I have to say these pics don't do him justice, after seeing him in person, and Kari takes really good horse pics!

He's just a little over two months in these pics. The filly behind him is out of a 17 hand Thoroughbred mare and 2 months his senior so you can't judge his height by her! ;)

Hope you enjoyed the pics. This boy is hard to get really good pics of as he prefers to spend his time trying to get you to catch him if you can!

I just wanted to let everyone know that at the end of this week we will be headed to Meridian ID to pick up a horse. We will be leaving on the morning of July 8th from Oklahoma. I still have two empty spots going up. If anyone is interested its 400.00 to catch a ride. We will leave Waurika, OK and head to Arlington KS, then through Colorado over to Nevada on the way up. Abilene Texas AQHA Show

Last weekend my friend Kari and I loaded up our boys and headed to Abilene Tx for an AQHA show! These are some pictures from the first day of the show. The second day Rooster and I came home with a 2nd in ammy halter and a res grand and a 2nd in open halter and another res grand. Kari got a 2nd in ammy halter and a 1st in open and a res grand in open and ammy halter. Both days where double judged. So we did rather well! (Patting ourselves on the back)

Rooster was needing to pee, but needless to say he couldn't get it accomplished before they called us back in for grand and reserve!

Confused by the title??? Let me explain! This is Rooster! This picture was taken ohh about 2 months ago. I love this picture of him, it actually show just how big he is. That's my husband who's 6ft standing behind him! This is the only picture out of 100 pictures that shows how he truly looks. This poor boy is just not photogenic! He tries, but alas it just doesn't work! See with Freedom, it's just the opposite! You can take 100 photos of him and only have 2 bad ones! LOL! So that's my little story of 100 pictures in 1 day! Here is a picture of Freedom that my daughter took for me yesterday afternoon. We are preparing for the ABRA(American Buckskin Registry Association) World Show, which is in July. We still have a ways to go, and we will probably get our booties kicked, but Hey at least we can say we tried! Not to mention it will be fun to hang out with all our friends!
This is him pulled out of the stall, please excuse the dirt. The weathers been to up and down to give anyone a bath!

I'll post pics again next month of him and see if we can tell a difference! Here's to having fun and playing at the shows!

Busy Busy

Talk about spring time! I am so loving this weather. Everything is starting to green on up around here. Which means it's time to start making sure everything is in proper working order..The lawn mower is in great shape! I use it to haul my muck wagon around, and I engaged the blades just last week to make sure everything was working good on it! I do need to get a weed eater though. :L Guess it's time to hit my brother up. He can usually always manage to find me something like this when I need it! Also need to patch up some of the hoses we have. I noticed yesterday that the little mist hole that used to be in the hose is now a fountain! It's just about time to put the fans back up on the stalls as well. Can't be having my boys sweating all the time now!

We have managed to get some more junk hauled off this place. We took over 200lbs of clean aluminum to the junk yard. Needless to say that put a nice little junk of change in our pockets. We still have some scrap wood to get hauled off,(too bad they don't take that at the junk yard) from little projects we have done around here.

Next week we will be dividing the two lean tos so that I can separate the mares when the time comes.

I don't have much for recent pics, but I was looking through some pics on my computer this morning and thought I would share some that I haven't posted before!

She also believes that wherever you see a mushroom that means a fairy has floated close to the ground. So when she seen this one toward the end of the property she ran all the way back to the house to get the camera and take a picture of it too show everyone! See fairies do exist. They exist in the heart of this little girl!

Taxi has already had one foal and she has done awesome at halter thus far. We are looking forward to the day she will be started under saddle. Taxi has no impressive breeding at all. So for those of you looking for this line, you can't go wrong.

My dear hubby, who is gone this Valentines Day, sent me the sweetest gifts! He had a dozen flowers and a dozen chocolate covered strawberries delivered to me. The best thing is I received the flowers one day and the chocolate covered strawberries the next. It was so sweet of him to do this!

I truly love him dearly, and he is a blessing in my life! By the way if anyone is interested the strawberries where delicious and you can get them here!

Meet Doc

On the 21st we went up to Tulsa, to go to the OQHA year end banquet. On our way home we went and picked up Doc. Doc is a Black Tri Male Australian Shepard. He doesn't have papers, do to his dams info not getting back on time but all is well. He has champions all through his pedigree and with or without papers hes a winner to me. The pics below where taken this morning. He's 7 and half weeks old.

So What DO they want????

To many times while I have been down this road of showing halter horses I have been asked and I have asked, "So what DO they want?"

Do they want a nice sloped croup or a rounded one, do they want a low tail head set or a high one, extra heavy muscle or a moderate amount? The list goes on and on.

So many times we get wrapped up in certain parts of the horses body and trying to get "that" particular look, we end up screwing up what could have been a good horse, or picking out one that will not produce what we are looking for because although they have that nice sloped croup, everything else doesn't tie in with it which makes the horse look unbalanced and not conformationaly correct.

So to answer the question "So What Do Thy Want?" The truth is the judges look for a well balance, correct horse, and in a class full of the best of the best(or the ones who could afford to get there) they really have a tough time finding that Champion.

What ends up happening is the horse that wins world may have a certain trait that he/she pass on to his/her offspring, then their offspring start showing and people start to think ohhh that's what they want, that's what's winning, in other words that's the new "trend." Instead of saying it's just a trait, it looks nice, and even though all the offspring of this horse have it, if you breed for it will it work for you.

If you want to breed a world champion, it is going to take work, research, breeding, pedigree, and above all TIME! These trainers that we see today leading these horses to title, after title didn't just get there overnight. They all started where we are, and through hard work they arrived at the top. They have developed an eye for horses, to the point of being able to look at one and say yes it will place in the top 5 at world or no this horse doesn't have a shot. Now that doesn't mean the horse couldn't go out and get a R.O.M.(Register of Merritt) by competing at the local breed shows. It just means if you put that horse in a pen with the type and quality at the World Show don't expect to win.

I took a trip to the AQHA World Show this year to watch the Amateur 2yr old stallions show. I went because one i had never been and two my stallion has qualified for the 2yr old ammy class. I wanted to know what it was going to take for me to get in the top at this show. Needless to say I am going to have to work my butt off to get Rooster there but I will!

Just remember that in every fitting program consistency is the key. If you buy a horse take a million pictures study the pictures find someone who's opinion you value, or someone who you know knows what they are talking about and show them the pictures. Take your time and have fun, and what "they" want is balance and conformation!

December 8
6:00 PM. It started to snow. The first snow of the season and the wife and I took our cocktails and sat for hours by the window watching the huge soft flakes drift down from heaven. It looked like a Grandma Moses Print. So romanti...c we felt like newlyweds again. I love snow!

December 9
We woke to a beautiful blanket of crystal white snow covering every inch of the landscape. What a fantastic sight! Can there be a more lovely place in the Whole World? Moving here was the best idea I've ever had. Shoveled for the first time in years and felt like a boy again. I did both our driveway and the sidewalks. This afternoon the snowplow came along and covered up the sidewalks and closed in the driveway, so I got to shovel again. What a perfect life.

December 12
The sun has melted all our lovely snow. Such a disappointment. My neighbor tells me not to worry, we'll definitely have a white Christmas. No snow on Christmas would be awful! Bob says we'll have so much snow by the end of winter, that I'll never want to see snow again. I don't think that's possible. Bob is such a nice man, I'm glad he's our neighbor.

December 14
Snow lovely snow! 8" last night. The temperature dropped to -20. The cold makes everything sparkle so. The wind took my breath away, but I warmed up by shoveling the driveway and sidewalks. This is the life!

The snowplow came back this afternoon and buried everything again. I didn't realize I would have to do quite this much shoveling, but I'll certainly get back in shape this way.

December 15
20 inches forecast. Sold my van and bought a 4x4 Blazer. Bought snow tires for the wife's car and 2 extra shovels. Stocked the freezer.

The wife wants a wood stove in case the electricity goes out. I think that's silly. We aren't in Alaska, after all.

December 16
Ice storm this morning. Fell on my butt on the ice in the driveway putting down salt. Hurt like heck. The wife laughed for one hour, which I think was very cruel.

December 17
Still way below freezing. Roads are too icy to go anywhere.

Electricity was off for 5 hours. I had to pile the blankets on to stay warm. Nothing to do but stare at the wife and try not to irritate her. Guess I should've bought a wood stove, but won't admit it to her. God I hate it when she's right. I can't believe I'm freezing to death in my own living room.

December 20
Electricity's back on, but had another 14" of the stuff last night. More shoveling. Took all day. Darn snowplow came by twice.

Tried to find a neighbor kid to shovel, but they said they're too busy playing hockey. I think they're lying. Called the only hardware store around to see about buying a snow blower and they're out. Might have another shipment in March. I think they're lying. Bob says I have to shovel or the city will have it done and bill me. I think he's lying.

December 22
Bob was right about a white Christmas because 13 more inches of the white crap fell today, and it's so cold it probably won't melt till August. Took me 45 minutes to get all dressed up to go out to shovel and then I had to got to the bathroom. By the time I got undressed, went to the bathroom and dressed again, I was too tired to shovel. Tried to hire Bob who has a plow on his truck for the rest of the winter; but he says he's too busy. I think the jerk is lying.

December 23
Only 2" of snow today. And it warmed up to 0. The wife wanted me to decorate the front of the house this morning. What is she nuts!!! Why didn't she tell me to do that a month ago? She says she did but I think she's lying.

December 24
6". Snow packed so hard by snowplow, I broke the shovel. Thought I was having a heart attack. If I ever catch the man who drives that snowplow I'll drag him through the snow by his nose and beat him to death with my broken shovel. I know he hides around the corner and waits for me to finish shoveling and then he comes down the street at 100 miles an hour and throws snow all over where I've just been!

Tonight the wife wanted me to sing Christmas carols with her and open our presents, but I was too busy watching for the snowplow.

December 25
Merry -bleeping- Christmas! 20 more inches of the slop tonight. Snowed in. The idea of shoveling makes my blood boil. I hate the snow! Then the snowplow driver came by asking for a donation and I hit him over the head with my shovel. The wife says I have a bad attitude. I think she's an idiot. If I have to watch "It's A Wonderful Life" one more time, I'm going to stuff the TV into the microwave.

December 26
Still snowed in. Why the heck did I ever move here? It was all HER idea. She's really getting on my nerves.

December 27
Temperature dropped to -30 and the pipes froze, plumber came after 14 hours of waiting for him, he only charged me $1400 to replace all my pipes.

December 28
Warmed up to above -20. Still snowed in. The witch is driving me crazy!!!

December 29
10 more inches. Bob says I have to shovel the roof or it could cave in. That's the silliest thing I ever heard. How dumb does he think I am?

December 30
Roof caved in. I beat up the snow plow driver. He is now suing me for a million dollars, not only for the beating I gave him, but also for trying to shove the broken snow shovel up where the sun don't shine. The wife went home to her mother. 9" predicted.

December 31
I set fire to what's left of the house. No more shoveling.

January 8
Feel so good. I just love those little white pills they keep giving me. Why am I tied to the bed?

Things accomplished in 2010

There was a lot of things that I wanted to get accomplished during 2010 and a lot of them I did manage to get done. First things first

1. We wanted to get Rooster qualified for the AQHA 2011 world. We accomplished this in one show and went on to get a total of 4 points in open halter and 4 points in amateur halter.

2. We wanted to win a belt buckle. We won my first belt buckle on October 2nd 2010.

3. Win a futurity. Not only did we win one, but we went on to win two futurities.

4. Achieve a year end award with Rooster. OKQHA Year End Grand Champion 2yr old and Under Amateur stallion, we also win a belt buckle for this as well, so we doubled our goal see #1)

5. Be Able To Show Freedom. Not only did we show him, but he went on to win both the open and amateur aged stallion class, and in doing so, giving him a point in open and a point in amateur. So we actually killed two birds with one stone in this show!

6. Get two stalls built.Thanks to the help of my brother and loving husband we managed to get it done.

7. Breed Freedom to outside mares. Two very nice outside mares in foal to Freedom. Although one mare was struck by lighting, bless the owners heart. It was a very sad loss.

8. Sale a futurity breeding. The OkPtHA breeding sold the first time we put it up.

9. Buy a home. We did this in December of last year only it took us till February of this year to get moved in. We also accomplished being closer to Bobby's' work as well by purchasing this home!

10. Show a foal out of Freedom. We showed Coffee this year. She was Top Ten in the OBHA Futurity(6th out of 10), and placed in the top 3 or higher in several weanling classes! Not bad for a filly that is out of a performance breed mare!

11. Buy a Dun Haven Slinky. We will never buy any other brand after trying these!

12. Go to the movies more than once in a year. We watched, Tangled, Harry Potter 7 part 1, Eclipse & The Chronicles of Narnia.

13. Go to the AQHA World Show. It was an absolute blast and we look forward to going back next year!

There was many more accomplishments that We did as a family and to list them all would take a long while. We plan on having many more goals for 2011 and look forward to giving it our all to get them all accomplished! I hope that your 2010 was as successful as ours was and we wish you all A Happy and Successful New Year!

Kids Finest Chick, we'll miss you.

I had to make one of the hardest decisions ever. It was hard but it was the right one. My mare June Bug has been living on 3 legs for 6 years roughly. She had an injury, a cut to be exact on her ankle and the original owners instead of treating it just let it be which cause an infection in the joint, and eventually caused the hoof and ankle to curve under. When my friend got her there wasn't much left to do except to see what happened. For years June Bug was doing okay, but this year she really took a downward slide. I took her to the vet and asked him if there was anything extra I could do for her that I wasn't already doing. He said I was doing everything and the truth was that if she didn't start picking her weight back up in the next couple months we would have to make the decision. June Bug to mine and the vets surprise started to get better for a bit and then I noticed that she was hunkering down on her back leg and then would stand back up, her hip was hurting her. June Bug was also in foal and only 8 weeks from carrying to term. We had already made the decision, that if she carried to term after the baby was weaned she would be humanly euthanized. Last week we lost the foal, born 8 weeks to early, a buckskin colt. It was at that point that we decided to go a head and give her peace. I tried everything in my power to make her comfortable while she was here. My vet told me she lived longer on 3 legs than most horses normally do. She will be miss by all that knew her, she was such a sweet mare.
This is her last picture taken the day we said goodbye. You can see her bad foot. She loved to lay in the sand, or in the dirt. I think it was because of the heat that come from them spots.

You can see she was still drawn up from having the baby. You can also see the swelling in between her front legs. She had one on the back of the other leg. They where from her laying down a lot.
RIP girl, your are missed.

The Letter and The Trophy!

A couple days ago I received a letter from AQHA. It stated that in recognition of my achievement that I was being award the below stated trophy.
Open Show Grand Champion Stallion for Playin Chicken Two. This came as a total surprise, as I was not expecting this. I called AQHA just for curiosities sake and asked them why I was chosen to get this award. The lady in the awards department said to me it was because I had won Grand Champion in Open halter and because it was the first time for me to win this title at an AQHA show that they where sending me a complimentary trophy. She also said that when and if I win Grand Champion in the Amateur division they would do the same as well. She went on to state that any time after this that I win Grand Champion I would receive a letter and would be able to purchase a Trophy if I liked.
The letter stated that it would be 4-6 weeks before I received my trophy, but low and behold, it showed up in the mail today, and to say I was impressed was an under statement!

The trophy is a lot prettier than these pics reflect. It reminds me a lot of the ones they give away at the Quarter Horse Congress!!

This trophy is really heavy and this horse is of some sort of metal. Very nice!

A Thankful Thanksgiving

This year I have a lot to be thankful for. I know it's a day early but tomorrow is a busy day!

I am thankful that we found us a home close to my husbands job. Not only a home, but a home with land for all my horses and dogs, and our cat! A home that we are buying, something that will be ours!
I am thankful that my baby brother Jimmie helped so much on getting my stalls done for my show babies.
I am thankful that I have someone right here in town that has nice grass hay and will deliver, and that there is someone just 30mins away with awesome small squares of Alfalfa, and for a reasonable price at that!
I am thankful that I have a wonderful husband and two gorgeous daughters whom I adore, and love with all my heart.
I am thankful for a family that loves me and stands by me no matter what, and they actually care what happens to me, my husband, and our girls.
I am thankful for a wonderful farrier, without whom showing Freedom next year would not be possible.
I am thankful for my very good friend Kari, who is always there no matter what is needed, and isn't afraid to tell me the truth even when it hurts!
There are many many more things that I am thankful for and to list them all would take days or longer. My life is AWESOME, and good or bad I love it all. Each and every person that has come and gone in my life has helped make it what it is today, and for that I thank you. For those that are still in my life thank you as well. You help make my life fun and entertaining.
Nobody knows what tomorrow will bring, so be thankful for what you have, life's to short to live in the past. So look to the future, it's much brighter!

On Friday the 12th my family and I went up to OKC to go watch the quarter horse show in particular the 2yr Old Ammy Stallion class, that and I wanted to see Influential for myself. Live and in color so to speak.

Rooster was Grand Champion Yearling stallion in the futurity and took first in the yearling stallions class

Coffee took 6th in the futurity, 3rd in weanling mares, 2nd in weanlings all sexs, and 3rd in open mares.

My girls and I went to another futurity this weekend. It was put on by the Red River Horse Club. Coffee was 6th out of 7th having to be in the senior op fillies, bless her heart again she was the smallest, but that's alright she'll get there. Rooster on the other hand won his futurity class, and won the AQHA yearling stallion class AND Went on to win Grand Champion Stallion adding another point and 1/2 to his open points towards his R.O.M.(reg. of Merritt)

This is the first buckle I have ever won, and let me tell you it felt great!

Coffee took 7th out of 10 in her weanling class. She was one of the smallest there, but that's alright it gives me more incentive! Rooster HOWEVER, won his futurity!!! So he is now a futurity champion...I am so proud of my boy! These pics where taken after a 4 hour trailer ride home. P.S. He loves jackin with Bobby so he is not set up perfect in ANY of these photos!!

Well the start to getting ready for the Stephens County Free Fair was very interesting to say the least. Between Rooster being a turd and then the city deciding to flush all the water hydrants and not telling anyone(while I was mid wash with Rooster) I was beginning to wonder about are up coming events.

I finally decided instead of looking at the class 1/2 empty, that I would be a glass 1/2 full kinda gal. So I said okay all these trails I am going through must mean something good is waiting for me. So I sucked it up finish washing Rooster with what water I could get to drizzle out of the hose and finished banding him by the headlights of my truck!

The next morning I was having doubts again, kinda feeling like I was going to attend a strongman competition. Why you ask?!? Because the class for halter that i was going to compete in where 5 and under mares and 5 and under stallions. Ouch!

Needless to say my worries where just me being me! We left today with a Grand Champion Stallion and Coffee with her first show ever left with Reserve Grand Champion Mare!

I am tickled pink.

The Judge even took the time to come over and ask me how my stallion was bred. I told her and she told me that he was a very nice horse, he looked really good and her profiled wonderfully! She told me Coffee has a very refined head, very well balanced and has a gorgeous hip on her! I love to hear a judge complement my horse, makes me feel good!

Here are a few pictures I took last week of Coffee in the round pen. She was having her self quite the time. As you can tell from the first pics I posted of her she has gotten quite a bit bigger as well.

This is the best shot out of the three. As you can tell by the pics her head is very small. That is a foal halter on her on the last notch and it is still to big. She is 4 months old in these pictures.

My daughters and I went and watched the 3rd annual Red Dirt Ride this year at Duncan! It is a competition of Drill Team Riders from all over Oklahoma. A few days ago, while my daughters where attending to one of their chores of feeding the dogs, my youngest daughter Porsha, came running back into the house. "Momma, momma, Sadie found a bat!" I told her okay run and tell her sister not to touch it and I would be right there.

So I went outside glove on one hand and this is what was there.He/she was a tiny little thing. Granted i don't know a lot about bats, but judging by the looks of him, and the hair that was still on part of his wings I would say that he/she was a rather young bat.

We took him and turned him loose on one of the many many huge oak trees we have! He started climbing.....

and climbing.....

and climbing! Until he was about 30 feet on up in the tree where the wee little bat turned around and hung his self upside down and slept until dusk!

Here is something we did learn while doing research online trying to find out what kind of bat this little guy is.

Oklahoma has 22 species of insect eating bats. 2 of which are on the endangered species list! Although we still haven't figured out just which species he is!

So be kind to the next critter you find! You never know when you might be handling an endangered animal or your state Representative!

It was quite interesting to learn this about our state, and to learn that Oklahoma has name one of these bats as the state flying mammal!

Finally Got Our Coffee!

Monday morning we got up bright and early and head toward Watonga Oklahoma. Our destination for getting Coffee. In case you have missed the last several post Coffee is our filly out of my good red dun mare Fire My Jets and by my buckskin stallion Dun Encountered That!

When we got there to get Coffee it only took a total of 10 mins and she was in the trailer. I got in the trailer with her and put the halter on her. She was such a good girl.

On the way back we had to make a detour to drop my brother off in Mountain View, and of course show off our Coffee! She loved all the attention and wasn't bothered a bit by all the hands on her.

We left Mountain View and headed for Waurika! We drove through some serious rain and wind. When we got home, we put Coffee in the round pen to relax for a minute. Then into her stall. As we where doing that it started to down pour and lighting very severe. So playing with Coffee was put off for a day.

Yesterday, the sun was shinning and it was beautiful with the exception of the mini lake on my property.

The girls couldn't stand it anymore, they wanted to mess with Coffee, so we waded through the mini lake to higher ground and fetched Coffee from her stall. They had a blast together and she behaved perfectly.

This is only her first full day of weaning from her dam and she is fully halter broke, will lead like a dream and trot beside you when asked!

I love that this filly has her dam's attitude! I worked her for just a min in the round pen today to kind of give her the ideal of what is supposed to be going on, she picked up on it real quick. Oh and just on a side note, this filly had not had a halter on her since she was just a few weeks old. She was not halter broke when we put her in the trailer. That's how quick a learner this filly is and how willing she is TO learn.

There is ALWAYS something to do!!

Well this morning started off great! I went outside and moved Rooster over to the round pen so that i could clean his stall. I noticed while I was cleaning his stall that he was stirring up A LOT of dust,

Okay so maybe not quite THAT much dust but enough! I decided to go over and water the round pen! I can't have my boy start coughing now can I! So as I was watering the round pen Freedom started screaming, as in Whoa momma there's a hottie over here!!! I look at him and he is staring intently at my neighbours house. I step around the big tree which is blocking my view and here comes Sensation.
So I drop the hose go over and catch her tie her to the trailer, make sure everyone else is still in, and look to see what the damage is! Horses amaze me, as I couldn't find one single spot where she could have gotten out /:. So I run in to Duncan to get a fence charger as the two that I have are fired, but that's for another post! Anyway 25 miles into Tractor Supply I go. I get there spend $$$ on a new charger, come home give Sensation a drink, finish cleaning the stall put Rooster back in his stall, and take Sensation and put her in the paddock with the electric fence. So by the time all this is done it is now hours later, my day has is but out of whack! Oh well so goes the life of a horse owner, and I love it!

Moral of the story: the grounds always dry, the fence is a some point NOT going to be hot, and the perfect fence ALWAYS has a whole somewhere!

AQHA Show This Weekend!

I'll post the pic to this post later. As it is late and I just wanted to let everyone know about the show. Rooster was a perfect gentlemen!

We got a 3rd and a 5th in Ammy Stallions beating out a 2yr old and not finishing at the bottom of the class ONCE!

We got two 4ths in open yearling stallions again not finishing at the bottom once!

Both of these class where 6 deep! So other than the one 5th place we pretty much stayed in the middle!

We now have 5 mares confirmed in foal to my buckskin stallion Dun Encountered That! We are waiting on two more! So hopefully we will have 2 Gourgous "Buckskin" Paint babies and 5 Gourgous "Buckskin" Quarter babies! Okay so that is wishing for a lot, but it never hurts to wish, hope, and rub bellies and talk to them! Here's wishing everyone gets exactly what they want next year!! WOW! Is this coming week going to be busy, or should I say this coming weekend!!!

My baby cousin, and I say baby because she is the youngest out of my grandpa's 23 grandchildren, will be graduating on Friday the 21st! So YEA!!!!

CONGRATS MISS KADIE LYNN CARRAWAY!!!
CLASS OF 2010!!!

Kadie also graduates with her Bo' Mr. Dillion Mitchell!! They plan on attending college and getting married!!

They are just too gorgous together!!!

So after all the graduation stuff on Friday, Bobby and I will hurry back down to Waurika, to load Rooster up and head to Comanche Tx,. Where we will spend the night with a very good friend and then travel the next morning to an AQHA horse show!

It's going to be a blast! Lots of friends there! Love showing with great friends!

After the show we will go back to Comanche to visit for a while, then head home. Sunday morning it's back up bright and early to get ready for Miss Kadie's graduation party. It's going to be a blast. Her dad will be down from Ketchikan, Alaska! I can't wait.

There is nothing like a weekend full of Good Friends, Good Fun, Good Family, and Good Food!

Just An Update!

My husband Bobby went back to work yesterday, so my brother and I are working full force on getting the stalls up! Roosters 1/2 is 3/4's of the way done and will be finished tomorrow. Then we will begin working on Coffees' half!
I have Obviously Two Faced SOLD and he will be going to his new home in a little under a week! They are going to geld him and make him a youth show horse. I think he will do well at it! Good Luck to them both!
We Got two more mares confirmed in foal to Dun Encountered That, Kids Finest Chic is due Feb 17th, BK Imprints Sensation is due Feb 20th, and WB Darcus is due March 17th. We are still waiting on a few more to be checked! Next years line up of foals should be a great one!!!
We already have one breeding sold and have 3 more available for purchase!

Today my loving husband, Bobby, and my very sweet brother Jimmie, started on build two of my stalls for me! One will be Roosters and the other will be the future home of Coffee!

I absolutely love these guys, they are great hard workers and my baby brother has been a carpenter for 15yrs or more! So I can rest easy knowing that it will be just right and safe for my babies! Yesterday was an absolutely gorgeous day! So my brother Jimmie went to the shop and pulled out the 3 wheeler! The girls were lined up waiting to get there turn!

Born this morning between 4 and 730am. Please welcome to the world Fiery Encounter APHA SPB Filly Fire My Jets x Dun Encountered That.She truly is a very VERY sweet filly! She does have some leg barring on the back that we can see so far! So we are shooting for a smokey grullo. I plan on having her genetics done in about a month.

We are finally Moved!

Sorry for the long delay in posting. Trying to move when your husband works 7 days at a time is alot of work. No to mention it is 111 miles one way, BUT we did it. We have been all moved in now for two weeks. The kids are in school and lovin' it(thank the good lord above.) There is plenty of room for the horses and in a few weeks we will have 4 stalls up for the show babies, and the permanent stalls for the stallions.

Here is a picture of our home. This house was built in 1902 which

is part of what appealed to me so much. The people we are purchasing it from went in and completely gutted the house, then didn't finish it. So now we can make the house look how we would like it too. This house used to be a 5 bedroom apartment. The windows upstairs are two bedrooms with a bathroom in the middle. Then there is a front room dinning room kitchen bathroom and bedroom on the bottom floor. The kitchen is huge and so that is the first room I am tackling to decorate!

This is just one piece of our property. I love the old Live Oak trees that grow on the property. Some date back 250yrs or more. Lots and lots of potential.

Since we our in Waurika now it is only fitting to announce.....My family and I can't wait. We are within walking distance from where everything will be! Rides, deep fried turkey legs, kettle corn, corn dogs, funnel cakes and more. (Okay so my diet will be shot for 3 days, but at least me and my family will be having a blast!) It is sure to be ALOT of fun.

BOOBIES!

These Udders belong to my mare Fire My Jets or Taxi to all who know and love her. She is on lease with Andrea Schellenberg of Big D.A.Y.S. Quarter Horses. When I dropped Taxi off on the 6th of this month there where NO udders and as far as we could tell no signs of them showing up for a bit. Well BOY where we wrong. Andrea sent me this picture via text this morning. I was blown away, her due date isn't until the first week in April according to the vet. We all have come to the conclusion that she is not going to wait that long. Which is typical of maiden mares. So keep checking back, and we'll keep waiting for those teats to drop as well, and the first Freedom Baby is just around the corner waiting to come out and say Hayyyy!

Uncle Gregs' Victrola

During this horrible ice storm that Oklahoma had this past week(pics coming later). We all had to go in and stay with my aunt and uncle for heat. With so much family all in one house, the stories were rolling left and right. Some new, some not so new. Then dad said something to Uncle Greg about the slef that had been sitting by the kitchen door. At which point Uncle Greg told him that was the victrola he had been talking about.

This is the top of the lid. Uncle Gregs Dad bought this at a garage sale when he came back from Vitenam for 15.00. It sat in his grandma's basement for years, and during the holidays, he would go down to the basement drink his grandmas wine and listen to the Victrola. I think some of the records had a little old wine on them still! LOL! He keeps his favorite record on it all the time. It's called "If I'd had known you where coming I'd a baked a cake." I absolutly loved it as well as everyone else.

This is it! All opened up. On the bottom right are the speakers. Storage for all the records on the left, with a drawer above that and a mock drawer across from it.

It still has the Orgianal insturction manuel. Along with a list of all the Victor Records you could by. Amoung all the paper work was an electric bill for 1932 for $2.52. Sorry I forgot to snap a picture of it.

At one point the Uncle Greg said that they where not going to make the needles for the Victrola anymore so his dad bought a whole bunch of them so that he would have them.
It was quite a treat to sit around and think about what people way back when where doing when they listen to the Jazz music or even Cry cry cry, by Johnny cash. There where a few in there like that. But most where old Victor Records.

C'est le Bébé de Temps de Spectacle!

In other words my DAC order finally arrived today, about 10 mins ago to be exact.

So we have box number one! Ohh the suspense is killing me! Oh garcon! Inside box number one we have.............

TAH DAH, its dac OIL! This stuff smells a lot like butterscotch candy! I bet Rooster will eat it up! I also had to order an extra pump as I only have one in it is in use elsewhere at the moment. Rooster will be getting 4oz of this a day but since it is already past morning feeding he will get 2oz tonight and we will start off strong in the morning!

Now for Box number 2...........
It's dac BLOOM! This stuff smells great as well, and has a real moist texture to it. Rooster will also get 4oz of this a day, starting with the 2oz of BLOOM tonight!

And in Box #3 We have dac ORANGE SUPERIOR! Rooster will also get 4oz of this daily and he will get 2oz starting this evening.

You can really smell the citrus in this stuff! Which would probably be the Vitamin C that's in it!

This is what ORANGE SUPERIOR looks like. It is darker than the bloom, but just as moist! I know I had to dig to the bottom of the bucket to find the scoop!

Everyone stay tuned and I will let you know how well it works. There has to be something to it as all the big names and some not so big swear by it!

The right stuff..or all the stuff..or stuff needed!

Well for all of us here at Diamond J Ranch show season is getting ready to kick into high gear again, and with this comes cleaning out the trailer, seeing what needs to be restocked and maybe adding a few new tricks that were told to us my some very experienced AQHA show people.

This one is Horse Shave. I will be purchasing these for the first time, but I have used them before. The first time was at the Spot or Not futurity last September. I had forgot my razors and asked my neighbour if they had one I could borrow and low and behold this is what they had. You want to talk about a close shave! It worked almost better than a set of clippers. So this will DEFIANTLY be going in the grooming box.You can get yours at Legacy Tack!

Next it will time to get Rooster another show sheet as he has rapidly out grown his first. As well as time to buy a couple smaller ones for the new babies that will be coming into there show carer in a few months. Rough estimate is June, July and August.

We will also be buying matching neck covers for all sheets. This particular sheet you can get from Schneider Saddlery , and it's on sale so you can't beat that!

We will also be purchasing a few new slinky horse hoods as well as slinky sheets. I plan on purchasing these from Robbinhoods. They have REALLY REALLY nice hoods that will last a long time. Not to mention any and every color you can think of .

A few other things to put in your grooming bag is....

World Champion products are great. I have used pretty much everyone of these in this picture. The aerosol coat condition works great to spray on those muscle creases to get them to really POP out, and what a shine on the face with Shine On!

You should also carry a soft bristle brush, rubber curry comb, baby wipes, hoof polish, and pledge wipes, Yes I said pledge wipes!

Family History-Haworth

I have always found it fascinating to dig into the history of my family. Today I stumbled across this website and wow was I amazed. I had always known that the Haworth part of my family was big( and that's an under statement), but I had no ideal in reality just HOW big. My grandpa, God rest his soul, was Born Cecil Ray Haworth.

Grandpa always loved to tell stories of how the family came to be, but as such he could only remember so far back, and with my Great Grandfather having passed away before I was old enough to really ask question about our family it left me wondering, about where this part of my family had came from.

Here are a few of the pictures and stories that are on this website.

This picture was taken at the 200 year Haworth family reunion celebration, September 22, 1899, Plainfield IN. This priceless photograph was presented to Lowell Scarbrough by Virginia Schneider, of San Lorenzo, CA.
Virginia writes: "I obtained the picture from the Reverend Richard Haworth, of Bay Farms Island, which is located next to the City of Alameda, Alameda County, California, in about 1976. Rev. Richard was not well, but he and his wife were so happy to visit with me and help me with gathering family history, that they gave me one of the two copies of the picture they had. They also identified as many of the people that they knew. One of the persons in the picture was the grandfather (or great grandfather) of Rev. Richard, and from whom he inherited the copies of the picture."
Virginia wrote us again in April of 2005 and said she enjoyed looking at the picture again, on the web pages. She wrote that she wanted to let everyone know what she knows about the Haworths. We thank you, Virginia, for the priceless photograph.
(Note: In March of year 2003, we located the person who has the papers of William Perry Haworth. William Perry Haworth, who is seated at the front of this picture, is the person who organized the 200 year celebration. We hope to be able to catalog these important papers. Ron Haworth, editor)

Denise Gripp, Vice President of the Iowa Genealogical Society writes: The picture is labeled, "Haworth Reunion, Sept. 28, 1905", and looks to have been taken in the yard of the Ackworth Academy, Ackworth, IA. It was found in a Roger Boone scrapbook housed at the Warren County Historical Museum.
Editor's Note: This is the only document that we have, pertaining to this reunion. We were able to scan the tiny document at a very high resolution to recover some of the details. Denise was especially intrigued at the child in the foreground, and what may be a "sun parasol".

Martin Luther King, Jr., (January 15, 1929-April 4, 1968) was born Michael Luther King, Jr., but later had his name changed to Martin. His grandfather began the family's long tenure as pastors of the Ebenezer Baptist Church in Atlanta, serving from 1914 to 1931; his father has served from then until the present, and from 1960 until his death Martin Luther acted as co-pastor. Martin Luther attended segregated public schools in Georgia, graduating from high school at the age of fifteen; he received the B. A. degree in 1948 from Morehouse College, a distinguished Negro institution of Atlanta from which both his father and grandfather had graduated. After three years of theological study at Crozer Theological Seminary in Pennsylvania where he was elected president of a predominantly white senior class, he was awarded the B.D. in 1951. With a fellowship won at Crozer, he enrolled in graduate studies at Boston University, completing his residence for the doctorate in 1953 and receiving the degree in 1955. In Boston he met and married Coretta Scott, a young woman of uncommon intellectual and artistic attainments. Two sons and two daughters were born into the family.In 1954, Martin Luther King became pastor of the Dexter Avenue Baptist Church in Montgomery, Alabama. So many people make NEW resolutions on the 31st of December each YEAR. So as to stick with tradition I resolve to make good on past resolutions that have fallen through the cracks, of not enough time, or just don't want to do them.
Each new year brings about with it a certain air of freshness(as long as your not in a crowded bar). With which you can aspire to achieve new and great things in life, with family and friends.

Preparing for colder days!

Well today is going to top out at 60+ but ohh look whats coming around the corner! Tomorrow and the rest of the week is going to be in the twentys. UGH! To quote the weather man, he said the cold artic air that is coming down from Canada is "Going to be like honey, so thick and sticky that its going to take a while for it to go away."

So most of today is being spent making sure all the horses have everything they need and checking all the pipes around the house. We will also be draining hoses, rolling them up and putting them in a warm building so there not stiff in the moring when we water.
Hope everyone in the wake of Jack Frost stays nice and warm!

WCEHC Futurity

Here are the pictures from the show at Wichita Falls, Tx. At the WCEHC Futurity. We got 8th out of 18 in the futurity, and a 3rd and a 4th in the open show the next day. You can see in the pics where Rooster tried to be a horse on a stick. 2 days before the show, when I thought I had him safe he tried to be an escape artist and then mom gets the surprise the next morning.

But besides all that we did rather well for having a hole in the chest.

We found this beautiful little girl on the side of the road. She appears to be part heeler about 8 to 12 weeks of age. This is her hiding in my dads canna plants in the front yard the first day we got her. She has since come out of her shell and gotten alot bigger. She is very smart and has already made her first horse show with frankie our aussie!
We loving call her Rhoda! I will be posting new pics of Rhoda soon.

Well I had a wonderful time at the GOPHC futurities and horse show. Despite the fact the all but one of the times we went into the arena Rooster just had to imitate his favorite horse Silver. We ended up 3rd in the futurity 1st in ammy with a res gr and 3rd and a 5th in in open. So im not to disapointed. I also wasnt to upset with him about being a butt head since evey other horse in the place including grown horses where acting like they had no sence what so ever. I'll post the pic i had taken as soon as i get it.

Well I just got done printing out directions to the Payne County Expo Center in Stillwater Oklahoma. Where me and Rooster will be attending the Spot or Not Futurities and competing in the Classic Colors Futurity!
We will also be competing in the corresponding APHA classes as well.

Biken for Braegan!

Yesterday bikers from everywhere lined up to do a run for Braegan. Braegan is 4yrs old and was accidently burned a month ago. She suffered 3rd and 4th degree burns over most of her body.
I love it that in these dier times people still come together to help each other. Wither it be by something like this or through the power of prayer.
With all the prayer that has gone up Braegan is doing awesome! She has gone through her 2nd skin graph surgery and is doing GREAT! She has had her breathing tube removed and has been telling everyone that she loves them. I will keep trying to post updates as I get them.

Pics taken today of Rooster! He is going up so fast. He was a good hand to almost two taller than some of the others in his class today. We got a secound and a third. Water Anyone?

This is the creek just outside of town! Needless to say it is full and then some!

I took advantage of all this water we had and Rooster got his first lesson in " It's just a water hole and it does'nt contain the creature from the black lagoon." He was such a champ and did great. With in 5 mins he was going through the water like he had been doing it all his life!

The 11th of September? I was sitting in my algabra class class in college when a young man came in and said "Just in case you don't know the twin towers and the pentagon have been attacked!" I remember my world stopped. I was 7mths pregnant with my youngest daughter and an hr away from my family. That was the longest drive of my life.
This picture was taken two months ago outside of tulsa oklahoma by a friends daughter. I thought it fitting. Just goes to show that god is always there. God be with the families on this day.

Porsha at the Olive Garden

These where taken about a month ago. My youngest daughter Porsha is the biggest ham you will ever meet. If there is a camera or a way for her to be in the spotlight WATCH OUT!

As you can see in this picture I caught her unaware, while she was most assuredly enjoying her spaghetti.

Here she is again still enjoying her spaghetti and trying to pile it all up on top of a bread stick. Once again this girl is very out going and had she know someone was watching the show would have been even more dramatic!

In this one I was busted and now she, with a mouth full of spegatti and bread stick,(yeah I know not so lady like :)-) now posing for a pictures.
